Whatever Wednesday – My Colouring Book Addiction

Hey! I’m back for my second post this week all about that weird craze that recently popped up which is adult colouring books. (Not that kind of adult!) They are basically regular colouring books except some are very detailed and complex as well as the fact they aim to relax you and calm the mind.

So I have picked up a couple recently and want to share them with you *in blog form not physically soz 😂* I will show you my top 5 favourite ones I have so here goes hope you enjoy!

1. Millie Marotta’s Animal Kingdom a Colouring Book adventure – £9.99
It includes all different types of animals like fish, birds, mammals, reptiles as well as trees and flowers too! Which are made up of intricate patterns for your creativity to be put to the test. The illustrations begin quite simple and progress to extremely detailed patterns within the images which is good as it eases you into it gently and then challenges you later. I enjoy colouring the less detailed ones more to be honest as the harder ones just make me more stressed trying to colour within the lines rather than relaxing me! Still really love it though highly recommend it such intricate and detailed drawings and pretty to look at even before you start colouring them!

These are the easy and simple options in the book yet are still really detailed and soo cute!!!

Here’s one really pretty one of an owl that I have started but not finished yet – I used watercolour pencils from WHSmith with came in a set of arond 36 I think and were fairly cheep less than £10. They are seriously the best pencils to use for this kind of thing; they give a great colour, are easy to blend and create different gradients of colours.

I would give it 4/5 🌟🌟🌟🌟

2. Harry Potter Colouring Book – £9.99

Absolutely love this one as it includes scenes from the film, character shots, creatures and iconic things from the film used to create patterns. This is much easier I think than the previous one but still has the range of easy one and harder ones. It’s really interesting seeing one of my favourite films turned into a colouring book but one negative is that with the illustration below I would find it seriously hard to colour all the way into the centre where the spine of the book is so I think it would look pretty strange but we shall see not attempted one of the big ones yet! What’s also good about this one is there is coloured photos at the back of most illustrations in the book to act as a guide when you are colouring them which is super helpful!

Here’s one I’m almost finished and I loveeeee it the pencils make it even better I think! The thing I love most about these books is the fact the images look so good untouched but have the potential to look soooo much better just with a bit of imagination!

 I have to give this one a 5/5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

3. Doctor Who colouring book – £9.99

I’m a total whovian so anything with a tadrdis on it has to be mine but I just lovveeeeeeee this!!! It has patterns created by characters from the show and again range from simple to more detailed. There’s sooo may great choices in this one that it’s hard to know where to start which is defo not a bad thing! My absolute favourite thing about it is the fact it has illustrations of some of the Doctors heads but they are made up by characters and creatures iconic to there seasons!!!! This is one of the books that I’m scared to start colouring in as I don’t want to ruin it!!!! 😂😂😂 I aslo use these Stabilo fineliners when colouring in as they are sooo good at getting into the intricate sections in the drawings and are really good quality for around £10 for 20.

I have got to give this a 5/5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

4. The gorgeous colouring book for grown-ups – £9.99

This has much more patterns and swirls and shapes and intricately detailed images. It has a range of flower designs to graphic designs. This is one that actually could be relaxing I think as there’s less worry too me that I’m going to ruin my favourite film, TV show or beautiful animal so I think this one wins on that front but honestly it’s not THAT appealing just a bunch of shapes and swirls but I guess once coloured it would look super cool!

This is one that I started to colour in really bold and bright colours and I think once finished it will look really effective I love the way in this book the illustrations don’t go all the way into the centre so you are able to reach and colour ever inch of the image!

This one deserves a 3/5 🌟🌟🌟 good but a bit meh!

5. Colouring book from Tiger (between £2-4 can’t remember! 🙄😛)

This is from a shop that opened in my area recently and I have quickly grown to be obsessed by its contents I think it’s origionally from another country not sure wihpch though but they have really cheep quirky good quality stuff in there so I luv it! 😂 This one is by far the simplest out of the five but it is also one of the best as it really does relax you as its sooo much less interactive so not worried about going over the lines and the patterns are easier to follow and smaller so quicker to finish! Plus it’s the cheepest so is good to start out on your colouring book journey!

This is one I have actually finished using felt tip pens I got in WHSimth as well it was a pack of about 100 for £5 in the sale it has really good colours that are perfect for this book they are bright and have fine tips so could be used in more detailed books too. I like this image as it has really interesting shapes and once all coloured looks really eye catching.

This book is well deserved of a 5/5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I highly reccomend buying these all particularly the Animal Kingdom one if you want to be really challenged and produced really high quality work in the end or if you want a bit of fnu that’s simple and quick the gorgeous colouring book for grown-ups or the colouring book from Tiger. I absolutely love taking time out of my day when I can to sit down a be like a kid again colouring away in a book and yet in the end you can be left with a stunning piece of art made by an adult worthy of a place on your fridge if you where a kid or a couple likes on Instagram if you are older!!  😂😂😂
So there you go hope you liked that kind of post please don’t forget to like and comment; do you like these kinds of colouring books too?, do you have any of these? Or do you have any other recommendations 0f colouring books for me to try out?! Also give me a cheeky follow if you haven’t allready! You know you want to 😋

I got the animal kingdom one for Christmas, I haven’t started it but I love the pictures. I also have an enchanted forest one with little things to find in a lit of the pictures so you have something to do as well as colouring. I really want the Dr who one and the harry potter one looks good. I am tempted by the Sherlock one but it looks less relaxing as there are big patches in a lot of the pictures. At this rate I’ll have more books than I can colour!

Great! That sounds really cool defo want to keep my eye out for the enchanted forest one!! You should totally buy one of them – OMGGGG can’t believe I didn’t mention the Sherlock one I loveee it! – it’s true though that it does have really difficult and less relaxing areas which is so annoying! Haha lol same I will never be able to colour all these books in 😂😂😂

I love coloring! I use to print out coloring pages from the internet before the adult coloring book became a thing. I only bought one though that I want to get through before I splurge and buy more as I’m afraid I’ll get bored with it. Your coloring skills are amazing thou!

My Mom has really been into it; I bought her a new coloring book for Christmas. Test your books, many allow you to rip out the pages…but the perforation is so deep into the spine, you can’t see it. Maybe you can rip out the pages in the Harry Potter book, which would allow you to color that left side of the page easier!
    BTW…thanks for the follow!
